My name is Brook Williams and this is my seventeenth year in education. I attended Abilene Christian University where I played 4 years of Wildcat Volleyball and graduated with a Bachelors of  Science in Interdisciplinary Studies.

My husband is a firefighter at the DFW Airport and together we have  3 daughters; Karlye who attends Texas A&M and is majoring in Animal Science and will apply for Vet School soon. One of my favorite things to do is watch her ride her horses,  along with her love for horses  and animals, she enjoys playing volleyball and showing her longhorns.  Kali (AKA... Roo); she gets that name because she hops  like a KANGAROO everywhere she goes.  She is definitely my ruffles, tulle, sparkle, and polish little girl, and she is in 7th grade at Alvord Middle School and is involved in Volleyball, Basketball, Choir and Student Council President.  Last, BUT not LEAST, Kinsley; she is my little firecracker!  Full of smiles, and spunk.  She is 10 years old and looks up to her two bigger sisters. My students will get to hear me brag about their accomplishments throughout the year. I also have a son; Logan who graduated from Arizona University and now lives in Austin.  He is fearless, loves snowboarding, basketball and anything dangerous.

Math

What if we told you that practicing math daily can also lead to better reading levels later on?  Engaging in math-strengthening activities positively affects future literacy levels.

Math talks engage your child in a process which strengthens cognitive abilities, such as focus and logical reasoning.  These vital skills affect other areas of educational development.  Additionally, math can develop an active imagination, inventiveness, and persistence — all extremely valuable characteristics.  The benefits of integrating mathematics into your everyday life will have a lifelong impact.

In a world where most adults learned that math is about memorizing a series of facts or steps or procedures, our curriculum focuses on the basics, and also asks that children develop understanding, flexibility, and the ability to reason mathematically — skills that are in high demand in today high-tech and ever-changing world. If you have tried to help a learner with any assignment lately, you must have noticed that there has been a drastic change in teaching methods.

PLEASE DON'T  BE AFRAID TO CALL ME, EMAIL ME, OR WRITE ME A QUICK NOTE IF YOU DON';T UNDERSTAND HOW TO EXPLAIN A SPECIFIC CONCEPT TO  YOUR CHILD.
